Recent Events 2009
Tuesday 6th January 2009 In January we again enjoyed our New Years lunch at The Harvester, Shackelford. As ever it was\par well attended and excellent value. However, the day was very cold and although the heating was on full bore the temperature inside the Harvester was such as most of us left our top coats on.
Monday 16 February was a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament, which was excellent in spite of having a very poor guide.
Wednesday 11 March AGM and lunch at the Barn Bridge. I know that one or two members do not like the stairs here and it is not ideal for the AGM, against this the food and service are excellent and as ever we had a splendid turn-out.
Wednesday 15 April Hughenden Manor - this transpired to be the hottest day of the year to date and we had a very good turn-out. Eight of us managed to get on the 12.00 guided tour, which was quite excellent, giving a lot of personal history about Disraeli and his wife Mary Ann. The house itself was not to large and one could imagine living in it. The gardens and grounds were at their best.
