Future Programme
11th
November Wednesday Reg Grifiths will lead this
months walk. Please contact him, nearer to the date,
on 0151 427 6198 for more details. He
will also advise the lunch venue in case you wish to join the
walkers for a meal.
25th
November Wednesday This is the date for the
Christmas lunch on the barge at the Mill Hotel in Chester.
We will meet at the hotel at 12 noon. Bryan
Kayley has asked for the balance of the cost of the meal to be
sent to him by 25th October 2009. The
balance of the cost of the meal, after the payment of £5
deposit, is £12.50 per person. Please see the
attached reply slip with details of Bryans address.
The committee would welcome, also, any donations for the draw
which will be held as usual on the day. We thank you
in advance for all donations.
9th
December, 2009 Wednesday This will be the first
official Alan Nield Christmas Walk and Lunch.
We remember Alan on this day in particular, as he spent many
years organising the Christmas walk in Delamere. The walk
will commence at 10.00am, when we meet in the Barnes Bridge Car
Park. Following the walk, we will go to the Tigers
Head, Norley, for lunch at 1.00pm for 1.30pm. Details
of the menu and cost are not available as yet, but anyone who
advises Ken Potter that they wish to attend will be notified as
soon as that information is to hand. Please contact Ken
Potter by 10th November, 2009 if you
wish to have lunch. A reply slip is provided at the end
of this letter. Ken is on 0151 334 3802.
21st
December Monday Seats have been reserved
provisionally for the Carol Concert at the
Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. The concert, which is
called Countdown to Christmas will commence at 7.30pm
and will cost £11 per person. Taking part will be
the Liverpool Welsh Choral Society, the Northop Silver Band and
Bishop Eton School Choir. Roger Phillips will present
the performance. Please return the reply
slip to Bryan Kayley by the 14th
September. We apologise for the short
notice on this occasion, but we are constrained by the
requirements of the Philharmonic booking office. Bryan
can be contacted on 0151 608 6220.
21st January, 2010 Thursday Seats have been provisionally reserved for the Everyman Pantomime, which this year will be Dick Whitttington. The cost will be £14.50 per person, and the programme begins at 7.30pm. It has been suggested that the evening could start with a meal at the Bistro Jacques on Hardman Street. Those wishing to eat at the Bistro should meet there at 5.00pm to avoid the likely crowds and hopefully prevent having to queue for long periods. To book for the panto, please reply to me, Rita Harraghy, by 30th September using the reply slip provided.

Quiz night and the Cruise!!!

Relaxing in the lounge

The Editor writes:- "Yet
again Liverpool hosted a quality Bargain break
with dinner now 4 courses! Early evening entertainment was as
usual hosted in Pat Curries Suite with the whole party of
21 enjoying pre-dinner drinks and nibbles. After dinner
entertainments featured Bryan Kayleyss Quiz and a stunning
slide show of the Lake District from a local photographer.
Fitting in with the weather Rob Powell conjured up his inevitably
stimulating walks, while Non-walkers enjoyed the local bus
services and Windermere cruises, one of which was enhanced by a
party of 20 or so Japanese ladies, who insisted on photographs
with myself and Roy Thornhill of Nottingham (See page 1). Thank
you Liverpool I look forward to next year.
