All the outings except the one by Mike Bentley are being organised by those on email. Would you continue to send me, in good time, details of the outing so that I can copy and paste without too many alterations and give ample notice to intending participants. From time to time later details have to be issued and whilst they can be sent out by email, would the non - emailers who are attending let me know and I will send them hard copy as necessary. I would like to avoid unnecessary postage expense of sending out further paperwork to those who will not be on the outing.Alex Walker at_walker@hotmail.com Tel:- 01522 595157 .............

Christmas Lunch 16th November Horse & Plough Bingham
A stunning turnout (The Pubs capacity) for an excellent Lunch. Crackers, paperhats and jokes as well. Regretably the photographers hadn't brought their cameras but the Telephone shots below give a flavour.! RMS Members of RCSL acknowledged support.

Happy smiles before the STORM on a lovely stretch of the canal.
The EMCERSA Annual Boat trip took place on the 15 June- this year sailing from Sileby to Loughborough along the River Soar. The forecast was not too good with severe thunderstorms predicted- but hey- were made of better stuff arent we? The start was delayed about half an hour by a late arrival- it was almost Winter before Summers arrived! So we set off with 22 members and guests in the 2 boats. This is about the twelth year of this trip and never a man over board- still there is always a first time- no names no pack drills- it wouldnt be very PC to name him would it?Apart from this mishap the morning was a true delight- warm and sunny when we arrived at the Albion Tavern almost in the centre of Loughborough where arrangements had been made for our pre-ordered meals and a suitable refreshments. Excellent food, service and a good pint to boot! All this was of course too good to last as soon as we set out on the return- the heavens opened and did they open!!!!! Hatches were suitable battened down- leaving the helmsmen and brolly holders to battle the elements. It certainly was the River Soars equivalent to a force 9! The more seasoned matelots on the River heaved to( or three)- however, time was not our own as we were due back at 5- so we set the pace braving the risk of lightening strikes on the tillers and safety rails. Sparks was flying!)After an hour or so- it all cleared we dryed out and sunshine returned for the last couple of hours. Herons were in flight- the cormorants were drying out too( on the overhead wires- unsual for webbed footed birds according to our technical advisers the birding B........s!) We arrived back in good time in one piece. It was a good job we took the Macs! All very enjoyable- thanks to the First Sea Lord and his missus.(Rumble and Jumble- boat names- can you spot the 5/6 cryptic names also- free entrance to the Tara Buddhist Centre on August 17th for the non-sailors who can!).........................Dave Parkinson
