RCSL 2009 OPEN DARTS SINGLES  OCTOBER 2009 @ Best Western Premier Leyland Hotel

It is good to report RMS members success in National Competitions. Ronnie Claudin won the plate event at Leyland.

Rab Walker RCSLA Darts Organiser writes :-” ...So to our Plate Competitions.  Men’s last 8 were Martin Rush, Alan Sutton, Ronnie Claudin, Ashley Dale, Alan Wolfe, Malcolm Emmanuel (outgoing men’s Captain), Neil Haynes & Andy Bartram. The semi-finals were contested by Alan.S losing to Ronnie and Alan.W defeating Andy. The winner with a 3-2 victory was Ronnie. Well done to both. However the story doesn’t end there, Ronnie is one of our retired members & now @ a sprightly age of 78 , must be oldest person to have ever won any RCSL Competition. Congratulations and very well done Ronnie.”

Joe Fitzsimons, another RMS member, had the highest check out at 160.

Martyn Perrin RCDA Secretary writes:-  Although he doesn’t feature in the report Joe Fitzsimons also performed well, narrowly missing out on qualification to the final stages in a deciding last group game (against me!).

Joe also took part in our Tri-Nations Representative match last weekend against the prison service in NI where again he acquitted himself well”.

.RCSL 2010 OPEN DARTS SINGLES

Reading on 8th & 9th October at the Best Western 4* Moat House

This annual event is open to players of all standards and comprises of two main competitions, namely, men's and ladies singles.  After successfully being introduced last year, we will again run a plate competition for those who lose out at the first group stages of the singles; if time permits we will also continue with the traditional mixed pairs on the second day.  The singles events will, as always, initially be based on round-robin groups followed by a In 2010 the competition will be held at the Best Western Reading (4 star).  We are slightly changing the running of the event this year & intend to hold a presentation/disco on Saturday night.  To help minimise the number of nights participants need to stay, & encourage people to stay for the presentation/disco, play will commence at 1300 hrs sharp on Friday so please let us know if you will be arriving late; this may mean a slightly later finish than usual on Friday & Saturday but the change should not unduly affect the overall running of the event. The following is a link to the hotel Best-Western-Reading-Hotel; for those without internet access the hotel address is Mill Lane, Sindlesham, Wokingham, Berkshire, RG41 5DF, telephone 0118 9499988.  It is near Jt.10 of the M4, is a non-smoking hotel, has ample free parking & also has a small gym for anyone who might be interested.  We are offering a discounted rate of £30 per person per night for twin and double rooms, which includes a 3-course dinner, bed & breakfast.  This rate applies only to competing members of RCSL.  For non-members/non-players the cost will be £40 per person per night.  Single rooms are available to both members & non-members for an additional supplement of £15 per night.  We have also agreed a bar discount, which has brought the price of drinks to a level nearer that of a normal High Street pub; there is also a pub located next door to the hotel.A limited number of rooms at the Hotel have been block-booked so if you want to take advantage of the special rates you will need to complete the accommodation/entry form as soon as possible; you must also include a cheque for the full amount. For those wishing to seek any form of reimbursement from their Region towards the cost of attending this event, your regional treasurer must be approached prior to submitting your application.  Those staying in accommodation outside the block-booking or booking with the hotel direct will not be entitled to the special rates.
